alone, here.

I came alone here
threaded between stars and beating hearts and gentle choruses I have walked:
a single set of footprints on the coarse sand that filled them in the moment they were left.

alone.
in my eyes and in yours alone.
I have walked a hundred million miles to this place.

alone through wilds and through narrows and through straights.
I can’t enumerate the ways I have traveled, I can only say they were many and they were the only way.

losing my way I sought for a while to backtrack, to start anew
learning always of course that there is no backward or forward but only onward
the rest being merely a matter of perspective.

beneath the loose fallen leaves strewn across the earth I have been humbled by creatures of the smallest size.

against the steel grey sky I have let loose a thousand hopeful red balloons
please I have whispered, but I have known not to whom.
